RICO:
The dominant maker of quality, American made reeds in the education and professional markets. Standard Rico reeds are a standard of the industry, recommended by educators all over the world.
What do the strength Numbers mean?
#1.5 - Soft reed. Easily produces tone. Many educators feel 1.5 may be too soft for many beginners. Ask your teacher.
#2 - Medium Soft reed. Recommended for most beginners.
#2.5 - Medium reed. Slightly harder/firmer than #2. Affords better tone, but requires more muscular development. Recommended for 2nd year players.
#3 up - Medium Hard to Hard - Again, better tonal color. For more advanced players. The harder reeds become a matter of the personal preference of the more advanced players. Try different strengths and reed types to establish your favorite.
