Kala U-Bass - Hollow Body

The Kala U-Bass is a short scale (20") bass that produces the same pitches as a standard electric bass and is tuned in traditional bass tuning, EADG. The U-Bass features a solid spruce top, Mahogany back, sides and neck and rosewood bridge and 16-fret fingerboard.  

The U-Bass is strung with proprietary polyurethane strings that incorporate a great bass feel, with balanced tension.  The strings feel different from standard metal strings and do take a bit of practice to really get used to.  Initially, you will feel a bit of roll and looseness in the strings, but the material provides a very woody sound and are very easy on the fingertips.  

The bass sound is rich and dark, cutting the difference between a fretless electric and upright bass sound.  Each string sits on a separate compensated saddle that also contains the custom Shadow Transducer pickup. The U-bass comes with a deluxe custom U-Bass embroidered logo gig bag that meets all airline carry-on requirements which makes this instrument ideal for electric and upright players who travel.
