Monette mouthpieces are revolutionary. Since 1985, David G. Monette Corporation has been designing mouthpieces to do what no other mouthpiece has ever done: provide constant pitch center, regardless of how loud or soft, or how low or high a musician plays. This acoustical innovation improves every aspect of brass instrument performance---sound, response, intonation, and endurance. Constant pitch center designs allow brass players more freedom to devote their efforts to making music, rather than to compensating for the acoustical flaws of their equipment. Purchased Monette B2; read previous post where I discuss my only complaint is that the mouthpiece showed signs of tarnishing rather quickly. After several calls to Monette in Oregon I was told the issue could be remedied if I cleaned the mouthpiece after every use (which I do and I did in the past). I was told Dave Monette would call me personally. It didn't happen. Also was told that a small amount of silver cleaner would do the trick. However with their insistence that I not use too much silver cleaner for fear of losing the gold finish, I decided against it.

First purchased a Monette mouthpiece: Feb. 2009. Type of player: I'm a serious amateur and have played almost non-stop since my youth. Music: Spanish bull fight Paso Dobles, Jazz, Polkas, Big Band, etc. in a wedding band. Also play classical Baroque and wedding music. Mouthpieces used during college (many years): Bach 1 1/2 C (when I became a bit more serious). Starting in my early thirties I was given a Stomvi mouthpiece set with interchangeable cups and 2 shanks which was signed/personalized by Maurice Andre. I started sharing this mouthpiece with my Bach with some improvement in sound. Never fully acclimated to Stomvi. Since purchasing my Monette B2 at Bronstein Music in South San Francisco I instantly acclimated to it. That first night I played nearly effortlessly. My endurance increased and my tone improved. Thanks Bronstein for the great service. My only complaint is that the mouthpiece showed signs of tarnishing rather quickly. I'm now looking to "possibly purchase" or TRY OUT another mouthpiece (or set of) B5 or B7F or a LEAD mouthpiece for easier upper register like a B5L or B6L. My next purchase is a heavy horn. But after the lack of response from Monette I'm looking at a Hub van Laar Oiram II. Sorry Dave!
